Throughout the entire month of September, Walkfest will feature at least one walk every day, providing ample opportunities for participants to explore the beautiful landscapes and historic sites within Guildford borough. The festival is a collaboration between key walking groups in the region, including the Surrey Hills Society, Guildford Ramblers, Guildford Health Walks, and the Town Guides.
Diverse Walks for All
The festival offers a diverse range of walks catering to various interests and abilities. Participants can look forward to specialist walks led by experts from the Wey & Arun Canal Trust and Carbon Zero, who will introduce unique topics like evening bat walks. Additionally, prominent local walk leaders such as David Rose will guide history walks, while mountain walk leader Pete Lambert from DG Adventures will showcase some of his favorite parts of the borough.There are walks for all ages and abilities on many different topics.
Chris Howard, chair of Walkfest, is set to lead a long-distance, 14-mile walk from Dorking to Guildford towards the end of the festival. Walks vary in length, covering the entirety of the borough and occasionally extending beyond its borders, ensuring there's something for everyone.
